When a work injury happens, employers are often left with more questions than answers:
- “Is my employee severely injured?”
- “Am I am responsible for paying the medical bills?”
- “How do I confirm that the injury happened at work?
- “What do I do if my employee is able to work, but we no longer have a job available?”
Workers’ Compensation matters can be multifaceted and complex. However, with the guidance of our experienced attorneys and support staff, they don’t have to be. Our team is dedicated to helping clients navigate the often complex web of rules, statutes, and policies that determine liability and risk when a workplace injury occurs. Our attorneys have successfully defended claims regarding occupational disease, specific loss, fatality, and aggravation injury, among others. We zealously represent employers (even those who are uninsured), insurers, and self-insured entities in all levels of litigation. Our clients span a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, education, government, and non-profits.
Angela Lorenz, Member and Chair of the Firm’s Workers’ Compensation practice group, has been representing government agencies, employers, self-insureds and insurance carriers in Workers’ Compensation defense matters for 15+ years. She successfully defends new claims for benefits, mitigates exposure on continuing claims and ends existing claims. She represents all types of employers from small, family-owned businesses to large, international companies before Workers’ Compensation Judges, the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board and the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in Southeast, Northeast, Western and Central Pennsylvania. Angie has built a strong rapport with Workers’ Compensation Judges throughout Pennsylvania and is intimately familiar with the complex rules and statutes in the industry.
We are intimately familiar with the provisions of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act and the Administrative Rules of Practice and Procedure. We have extensive experience with and knowledge of practices and procedures before judges and appellate courts throughout Pennsylvania. Additionally, our Workers’ Compensation team works in tandem with the Employment practice at the Firm. This allows our attorneys to work across related areas of Employment Law and Workers’ Compensation, such as light duty accommodations, compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (“HIPAA”) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), employment termination, fringe benefits, and employer drug testing policies.
We pride ourselves on handling claims efficiently, cost-effectively, and with an eye towards broader business objectives. No matter who our client is, our goal is to aggressively and efficiently mitigate exposure and defend, settle, or close claims while remaining budget conscious.
