Deborah L. Beals

Deborah L. Beals is Senior Counsel at Griesing Law, LLC and Co-Chair of the Firm’s Technology Transactions practice group.

What do you focus on?

My practice focuses primarily on providing clients with a high level of experience and expertise in a variety of issues surrounding the telecommunications industry.

What do you see on the horizon?

Technology has become a part of everyday life. When contracting to purchase communications equipment and services, you need to be alert to new issues related to useful life, limitations on use, liability for content transmitted by you and your downstream customers, among others. As technology changes, the concerns of the parties during contract negotiations change, making it more important to have attorneys, like ours, with the requisite knowledge and experience assisting you.

Debby has over 25 years of in-house experience at AboveNet Communications, Inc. and NYNEX Corporation working on complex transactional matters primarily in the real estate and telecommunications fields. Debby’s work includes negotiating and drafting real estate, design, engineering and construction contracts to support her client’s aggressive plan for nationwide deployment of fiber optic infrastructure, and in connection with the acquisition, development and financing of projects starting with either raw land or existing buildings. She also has extensive experience leasing and fitting-out offices, warehouses and other facilities, as well as drafting Master Service Agreements, and accompanying schedules, for telecommunications services.

Debby also has experience supervising litigation, as well as designing and maintaining risk management procedures. Among other things, during her in house tenure, she created a SOX reporting protocol in connection with exposure that might result from litigation and claims against the company, and streamlined number of policies, which reduced the company premiums while enhancing company coverage.
